TOP TIPS FOR WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING

Hi All….Liz here again with some top tips for wedding dress shopping.

TIME…..Give yourself 6-9 months if possible! With the huge amount of options available, it can take a while to figure out what you really like, and what suits you.  The last thing you want to do is panic and spend all that money on a dress you’re not quite sure about because you are out of time! Remember it takes an average of 16-20 weeks to tailor a dress and 6 months to tailor a custom wedding gown – so make sure you start in plenty of time!

IN THE AM……Book a morning appointment! That way you start and look fresh, the shop staff are attentive, and everything becomes so much more enjoyable. When you get there early, you are more likely to have an assistant who will be feeling creative and enthusiastic.

WEEKDAYS……Dont wait for a Saturday appointment. Make it for a weekday. Take a days holiday from work and make a day of it. You can plan your day around your appointments, have some lunch with your shopping companions and really enjoy the day. You get the full attention of your consultant and avoid the weekend madness!

4 IS A CROWD…...Only bring 2-3 people with you. We know it’s the most important dress you will ever buy and the world and his wife want to come too but its no fun having lots of people giving their opinions while you’re stood in the middle of a shop wearing a wedding gown you are not sure about! You want a small number of friends/family who you can trust to give you an honest opinion about what works and what doesn’t.  From our experience, your mum, sister and best friend are the best options.

KEEP IT SIMPLE……Try on a few dresses but not too many.  Most brides try four to eight gowns before making their final decision. Try to have an open mind.  Dresses may look good on the hanger but not so good on the person and vice versa! Whilst this means you need to try a few dresses on, things will get very confusing if you try too many on! You can easily become overwhelmed and can miss “the one” because you are confusing the issue by trying different styles! Go with your gut feelings, you will know when you have found “the one”.  You will feel amazing, you won’t want to take it off and there may even be a few tears from the onlookers!!

DON’T WAIT…..If you find “the one”, buy it today!! If you wait it could be gone the next time you are shopping. Designers can discontinue a dress at any time and once its gone its gone! And all good intentions to lose weight and then come back in a few months could mean the difference between getting your dream dress and having to settle for second best!

Hope these top tips help.

Happy Shopping!!

See you soon.

Lots of love,

Liz xxx
